Sometimes helping is as easy as a mouse click.....

I Read this on Chop Cult this morning.
http://www.chopcult.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5956&page=999

I hate to do this on here- but I need some help...

I've got some friends with two daughters that both have Rett Syndrome. They are very close to our family and we've got an opportunity to recieve 500k (250k plus a matched 250k) in funding for reasearch for a cure. Pepsi gives away a bunch of money every month and has a website where people vote. They are currently in 3rd place which means no funding and we've got less than 24 hours to vote.

Voting is easy and can be done 3 ways. The link I'll provide below (the page seems buggy, be patient / facebook login). Or texting 100842 to 73774 (Pepsi). Or via email. Text is the easiest no bs way to vote.

http://www.refresheverything.com/search/?q=rett

The genetic cause of Rett is known and it is the Rosetta Stone of neurological diseases. A cure here could lead to cures for autism, schizophrenia,... and other disorders.

I do apologize in advance if I piss anyone off by posting it here but it does mean alot to us.
Thanks a million.
Daniel

My nephew has autism and to see the kid struggle, well it kills me. So if all we have to do is skip looking at bikes and porn for 2 minutes for a chance to help someone's children, then we need to.

Pieter Bruegle 1525-1569......................

this shit rules...................and the Black Sabbath album is one of his paintings "Triumph Of Death"...........
It's natural to think of an earlier artist, Hieronymus Bosch. His work was clearly an inspiration to Bruegel. But the similarity holds a big difference. It's the difference between two kinds of fantasy art. One is devoted to sheer invention. The other brings its inventions to life.

Bosch's phantasmagoria have casts of thousands. He has an endless ability to make things up, to coin weird and queasy combinations. But his creatures remain figments of his imagination. Looking at them, you think of the mind that so ingeniously devised them. Looking at Bruegel's, you think of the creatures themselves.

What Baudelaire said of Goya is also true of Bruegel: "Goya's great merit consists of making the monstrous plausible. His monsters were born viable. Nobody has managed to surpass him for a sense of the possible absurd. All these contortions, these bestial faces, these diabolical grimaces are pierced with humanity."

Bruegel's monsters, more monstrous than Goya's, have life burgeoning in them– yelling, writhing, growling, colliding. The struggle of wild, revolting devils against lean, dainty, tidying angels, is the kind confrontation Bruegel is often drawn to: fat vs thin, gluttons vs prudes. He's not quite of the Devil's party, but he can certainly feel with both sides.

The artist

Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c1525-1569) is one of the world's most postered painters. Hunters in the Snow, The Peasant Wedding, The Fall of Icarus or The Tower of Babel are stuck to walls everywhere. The Netherlandish artist's work has become part of our visual vocabulary – quotable, proverbial, almost anonymous. Bruegel comes across as an inherently democratic painter, part of popular, not elite, culture. He embraces all of life, effortlessly combining comic and tragic. He's a crowd pleaser and his art delights in teeming crowds.

Standard Byke visit.....................

...........so I have been posting a lot of features about all the killer people, bands, companies that are contributing and showing up for our DBX3 extravaganza. Luckily I had a chance to get over to Davenport Iowa and visit Rick Moliterno of Standard Byke Company today. It was a good day for a ride that's fo sho, and I had yet to get out and see the inside workings of a BMX company that has been providing the BMX scene and all of my buds with the strongest fucking bykes on earth for a lot of years.
Well First stop was Goodtimes, Standards killer skate and bmx shop downtown on Locust. Talked to Ryan for a good while about what is going on in the chop scene and showed him various blogs, websites (hoppermag.com), and pics/vids that the kustom kulture has to offer to the unknown soul. He was quick to say the shit everyone is putting out is fucking rad and I was like "I know right" haha. So after a few of shooting the shit about the new props vid "Props Vol. 1398", Vans shoes and our gig I got the directions down to the Standard Fab Shop.
Thanks to Rick I got the grand tour of his shop, tools, and process. He also was kind enough to let me see one of his skilled employees go through the steps of putting together a new STA frame for a loyal Standard customer.......I got some good pics and would like to give you a background of Standard Byke Co. So I grabbed this history info off of standardbyke.com, look for these guys at our show and be sure to check out the website asap!!!!!!!!!!

About SBC Mission

Our mission is to bring the highest quality, most technologically advanced products to the world of BMX and Freestyle and stay true to the principals Standard was founded on: Quality, Integrity, Pride, Made in the USA.

Inception

Founded in 1991 in Davenport, Iowa, Standard Byke Company was conceived out of the down turn in quality of BMX products being produced in the late 1980’s. The Standard philosophy was to create quality products, made in the USA and back them up with riders who knew and used the products on a daily basis. Thus creating an environment in the industry that had never been seen before, a company that rode, tested and improved on its product line on a monthly, weekly sometimes daily basis for the improvement of the product and the advancement of the company; for the good of the sport.

Progression

Early on, Standard tried to move ahead of the pack and add some innovations to the sports or BMX and freestyle. In 1992, the Bicycle MotoCross frame, and soon to follow STA, were the first BMX production frames to utilize the threadless fork/stem combo thus changing the industry over night, forever. Innovations in production, design, marketing, advertising and promotion fueled by one the most epic teams in the history of the sport, Standard thrived and grew and dominated.

Re-Visioning

As the industry changes, the focus of the company has been adapted to met the demands of an ever changing industry. In 2007, the Standard Manufacturing facility was opened in Davenport, Iowa. Bringing all production in house has allowed Standard to change the industry once again by offering customers an “On Demand” option to create their own custom frames as well as still innovate and adapt production frames to meet the needs of the modern riders.

"Rick fucking rules" Cycle Nazi

when I was in the Army

You smell that? Do you smell that? Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. But the smell! You know - that gasoline smell... the whole hill! Smelled like... victory.
(Pause)
Some day this war is going to end...

I was out in the sand box and my homies and I were gettng a bit of sun and I watched these 2 A10's floating around making a lot of engine noise kinda gaying up our nap time. Next thing you know these 2 asshole dive at something and just let that 30mm gatling gun just blew the shit out of something. We didn't see what it was until a few hours later we rolled by these old soviet BMP's and the occupants of said vehicle scattered about the ground. I don't give a flying fuck about the air farce but those planes are gnarly as hell. the point of this story was this retard officer comes round 20 min later and says "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" I rolled my eyes at him because hes a fag and he made a bid deal over it. I about lost my one and only stripe of it.

SuperChief from Des Moines Iowa playing DBX3............

SUPERCHIEF is by and large about two things:

1) Rock and Roll

2) Emulating the Rock and Roll Lifestyle - as taught by Lemmy

If you're looking for old skool rock (yes that was with a k), then give us an honest shot at winning your rock and roll hearts. SUPERCHIEF knows no "scenes" or "cliques." Everyone will be welcomed to our rock family with open arms.

Moreover, there are few things that SUPERCHIEF dislikes as a whole. For instance, we dislike:

1) Playing our respective instruments without some type of liquor near by.

2) Playing an accoustic show- I mean seriously?

Each time we take the stage amongst our legions of fans, we play to kill. It's a battle, it's not easy, but the sweetest things always come with a price. We encourage you to come and get a taste.. When you wake up the next morning after a SUPERCHIEF show and your ears are ringing, that's a good thing. It lets you know you're alive.

In short, all we in SUPERCHIEF ask is for you to give us a fair shot. Come out and see a show, hang out with us, be a part of something bigger than your mortgage or your cubicle, in which you spend 40 confined hours per week to! Take the leap of faith. Test your own moxie. For those of you that have come out in support, we thank you, and things will only get bigger, better, and louder.

Your friends in rock - SUPERCHIEF

I guess I thought I was Elvis Presley but I'll tell ya something. All Elvis did was stand on a stage and play a guitar. He never fell off on that pavement at no 80 mph.

RIFFLORD PLAYING DBX3.....................

About RIFFLORD JOIN THE THE FOLLOWING, FOLLOW US TO THE HOLY LAND, WE SWIM THROUGH THE WATER OF WHISKEY RIVER AND RIDE THROUGH THE WAVES OF THE GREAT TUBELIFIER. MOUNTED ON AMPS YIELDING AXES OF WOOD, WIRE, AND STEEL. HIGH ATOP THE OLD MOUNTAIN WHERE EL34S AND KT88S GRACE OUR PRESENCE, GLOWING AND DIVINE, HOT AND REFINED, ORANGE, BLUE AND RIGHTEOUS. SO RIFF ON BROTHERS AND SISTERS, SOLO INTO THE ATMOSPHERE...

RIfflord was formed in the summer of 2007 with Wyatt Bronc and Tommy "hawkwind" Davoux in the midst of a ruined punk house known as "2xtreme." Soon adding Nate Perrion on drums and Dave Duffet on bass they began recording the first two songs "Huge Whiff Heavy Riff" and "Solid State Seawitch." Recording in a decrepit basement that was dirty, mold ridden, and perpetually flooding they had to place all their gear up on cinder blocks as to not damage the gear. Rifflord is known for their love of gear, that is borderline obsession. Lyrical content often referenced tubes, hiwatt and orange amps. In the winter of 2008 Rifflord added Dan Nissen and brother, Mike "fancy" Nissen to drums and organ. Playing their first show with "The Sword" they began off as openers for many great heavy artists such as "Jucifer" and "Admiral Browning." In late 2009 Dan and Mike Nissen resigned from Rifflord. Mike Hutchins of "Castle" joined Rifflord for one last show with the Nissen brothers which was to be Rifflord's release of their album "26 mean and heavy" named after a mystical fortune card found by a friend of the band. Moving forward Mike "Hutch" began building new custom made speaker cabinets, head units, organ, and drums for the new incarnation of Rifflord that is to come.
Check em out mang at our show SEPT 25th in Cedar Rapids Iowa......

Lost Videos from the TBR.

So I was asked if I wanted to help out with the Blog. Hell fuck yeah I do. I really didn't have anything until last night when I was lookin through some old shit and found a couple videos from the TBR I must have misfiled. And heeeeerrrree ya' go.

Here's Big 'Ol Bulldog on his sweet mini bike.
Oh yeah after I told my son about Denver Jesus's wreck, they started calling it the Murder Cycle.

Here's some more of Krown tearing up the track. I think he spent most of his night mashing gears around the track. And that is Chris at the end of the video.

And lastly, here's Choppy riding around, "Look Ma, no hands!" I was really drunk by then, so it's shaky and a bit ADD.

So that's what I got.
